Description:This refurbished ancient house is attached to the village, yet stands alone, built on rock, surrounded by tropical vegetation with a panoramic view. It overlooks a chapel on one side, and faces the mountains and the valley where sheep pass contemplating the sea below. Mostly furnished with fine paintings and family heirlooms from Chateau Beychevelle (known for its remarkable wine ) that belonged to the family for over a hundred years in the Bordeaux region. The house is modestly grand, yet comfortable and charming with a quiet subdued elegance. Famous writers, polititians and painters have sejourned here. The house can comfortably sleep 12-14 and yet be a perfect hideaway for two.The main entrance leads on the left to a small drawing room in the middle with 2 sofas, armchairs and a coffee table and to the right,a single bedroom,bedside tables, a chest of drawers,wardrobe and a bathroom hand shower adjoining a w/c. A master bedroom with a four-poster queen-sized bed, bedside tables, desk, wardrobe and dressing table. To the left, a bathroom with a dressing table, bath and hand shower and w/c between the drawing room and bedroom. The window and French doors on this floor open to a balcony that has a stairway leading to the garden. Back to the main entrance there is a narrow staircase that goes to the ground floor opening to a small drawing room with sofas and a coffee table next to a dining room with a table that seats six and a console table that opens up and can seat 12. The fireplace is decorative. The kitchen, fully equipped with a table that can seat 6, is next to the dining room .A small passage from the kitchen leads to the refrigerators, w/d and wine celler. The 3 rooms open to the terrace and garden with small pool and onto the garage. Returning to the main entrance if one goes up the stairs, midway between floors, there is a bathroom with hand shower, sink and w/c. On the first floor to the left, the master guest bedroom has a four-poster queen-sized bed with bedside tables, writing desk, dressing table and wardrobe. Double French doors lead to 15m x 6m terrace with breathtaking views. The bedroom in the middle has a spacious king-sized bed, 2 bedside tables, a wardrobe, desk, chest of drawers and window with view. To the right there is a lovely bedroom with view and 2 single four-poster beds, a desk, chest of drawers and wall cabinet. A bathroom with a hand shower, sink and w/c is at the end of the corridor. The last floor has three separate bedrooms. On the right one has a small bed, a sofa that can sleep 2,a desk, a chest of drawers, coffee table and view. The room in the middle is has 2 single beds, a desk and bedside tables. The last room has a single bed, bedside table and desk . These rooms have no doors and can be used for children and a nanny or as an apartment for a couple with or without child. To the left there is a bathroom with a hand shower,sink and w/c. The house can be rented for 6-9 people only without maid service for a lower fee.* Location Information:Sant Antonino, 20 km from Calvi. It is 19 km from Ile Rousse and its port. A car is absolutely necessary to get around. It takes 15 minutes to reach the hypermarket, pharmacy and all other facilities including restaurants. The closest beach is 10km with a beautiful fortress built on the rocks overlooking the sea and its sandy beach. There are many things to see and do including outdoor sports activities, wine tasting and enjoying local festivals. This is an ideal location for outdoor sports, too. There are paths to walk down to the village and to the beach. |
