Description:

Le Barroux is a tiny village perched on a hill in the Vaucluse area of Provence. It's known for its formidable chateau built in the 12th century which dominates the skyline. This hillside village house was originally a house with a stable and a pigeonnier on top. It is now fully converted into a three-story beautiful and even elegant home.

The entrance opens to a cozy room with stone fireplace an ideal space to retreat from summer heat or to relax on cool evenings before the fire. The excellent kitchen leads to the original stables now transformed into a dining room with vaulted ceiling, fireplace and glass wall to the small courtyard. This delightful outdoor space is a small garden area open to the sky. Off the entry room stairs lead to the second floor with a master bedroom with king bed, and view of Mt. Ventoux and the village gardens. Across the hall is the bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. There's another bedroom here with king bed which can be separated in two. A door leads to the mezzanine sitting area which overlooks the courtyard and dining room below.

On the third floor is the living room which is quite pretty with exposed beams, ceiling fan and access to the balcony. The terrace is a lovely with dining table and chairs, 2 chaise lounges for enjoying the sun and a breathtaking view. Off the living room is a second kitchen and the entrance to the upper/rear street. At this level is a second bathroom with bathtub, shower stall, sink and toilet. Here is a third bedroom with king bed and access to the bathroom. The living room also leads up to the pigeonnier(the former pigeon loft), now an enclosed sun room with extensive views of the village rooftops and the chateau above. This is a beautiful and very creative renovation. It will make for a memorable stay in Provence.

In Le Barroux, 2 restaurants, simple food shop, post office, chateau. 4km N of Caromb most facilities. 12km E of Carpentras, most facilities including weekly outdoor market and the oldest synagogue in France. 16km S of Vaison la Romaine, most facilities including weekly outdoor market and Roman ruins. 40km NE of Avignon all facilities including high speed train. 125 km (1.5 hours) to Marseille, airport.
