Description:

Fontvieille is in a pretty setting with the mountains of Les Baux to the north and open rolling hills dotted with Roman ruins to the south. The village itself has a good selection of shops and a weekly market. To the west are the ruins of the Abbaye de Montmajour where concerts are held in summer. To the east is Paradou and its well-known bistrot. This is a terrific location.

This beautiful mas has 2 attached parts and thus provides great accommodation for a large group or two families. The structure is one large farmhouse divided into two separate portions that share a common wall. The outdoor spaces are side by side. Both accommdations are beautiful with all the extra touches that make for a charming Provencal home. The building is constructed of old stone. The interiors have exposed whole beams, with high ceilings, stone floors, and good lighting. The larger house has a large living room/dining room with two very comfortable sofas, an open fireplace, and a large wooden dining table with a zinc top. French doors open to the front gravel patio and an open view. There are several pretty antique pieces including a grandfather clock. The kitchen is terrific with a professional stove and a bar separating it from the eating area which has an oval, marble-topped table. A door leads to a small back patio and access to the pool. In the hallway connecting the kitchen and dining room is a bathroom with walk in shower stall, sink and toilet. This is good to use for those coming from the pool.

The upstairs landing has a small sitting area that serves to divide the upstairs in two sides. All the bedrooms are very pretty with fine linens, built-in closets with antique Provencal doors, good lighting and pleasant color schemes. There is airconditioning in the bedrooms. One side has two bedrooms: one with a queen bed; the other with a double bed. There is a large bathroom with bathtub, shower stall, sink and separate toilet. The other side of the upstairs has a large bedroom with twin beds. Adjacent is a bedroom with an antique double lit bateau and its ensuite bathroom separated by a 3/4 wall with walk-in shower, sink and toilet.

The other portion of the house is adjacent with its own separate entrance. Entry is to the living room/dining room with fireplace. There is comfortable seating and a table for 6. The kitchen is adjacent and has double French doors to the patio. A curved staircase leads upstairs to the bedrooms. On one side is the master with 2 singles that can be put together as a king bed. The bathroom is separated by a 3/4 wall and has a pretty double sink and very large walk-in shower. The toilet is separate and is immediately outside the bedroom door. On the other side of the landing is the other bedroom. It has 3 steps down with 2 single beds and an ensuite bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. There are screens in the bedrooms.

The pool is to the side of the larger house. The grounds are extensive and well landscaped with open views. This is a wonderful property for a large group that appreciates local charm, modern amenities and easy access to the village. Visit PR374 for the small house available in low season only alone. Visit PR375 for the main house by itself which is available at its own price for 6. The two properties are only rented at the same time to the same group. So privacy is always insured.
