Just outside the walls of the old city of Vence is this wonderful stone building which was originally a soap factory using local flowers for fragrances. It has been converted into several charming and comfortable apartments. The building has a favored location as it looks out on a lush valley where a hundred years ago sheep used to graze. A beautiful Mediterranean garden now surrounds this house, and each of the lovely apartments has either a patio, terrace or balcony. Most have great views. Privacy is assured as each apartment faces either a different direction or is up or down a level. There are 2 outdoor kitchens and a laundry facility which is available for any guest. There is enclosed parking for one car per apartment. There is one apartment with 2 bedrooms/ 2 baths. The others have one bedroom/one bath. Each apartment is well converted with an excellent kitchen, new bathroom, some pretty antiques, lovely fabrics and a eye to comfort.

This is a magical location because all of Vence, the cité historique as well as the rest of Vence is accessible on foot! This is an excellent value for the money. This is perfect for people who wish to manage w/o a car once here. They can imagine what it was like to live in Vence years ago, but with all modern comforts!

Location Information:

Vence is a wonderful city located high in the mountains from Cagnes sur Mer with lovely views of the Mediterranean and the lush hillsides all around. The city has a big open plaza shaded by plane trees and lined with open-air cafes. Its medieval city is surrounded by stone walls and has windy narrow streets. Vence is a perfect location with the Maeght Fondation for modern art and the Matisse Chapel right there. It is a 20 minute drive to the beaches at Cagnes sur Mer and the wonders of the Cote d'Azur are all a short drive away.
